Syrian government opens new crossing in Eastern Ghouta and continues to promote its positions in Daraa governorate

Field and local developments:

On Thursday, the Syrian government opened a new crossing in the city of Zamalka(9 km east of the capital Damascus for those wishing to exit to Northern.

A reporter told SMART that 25 buses entered the city of Zamalka to ease the pressure on the crossing of the city of Arbin, pointing out that there are significant numbers are waiting to get out, amid a chaotic and a random situation in riding the buses.

On Thursday, Fighters of the Free Syrian Army were wounded, as a result of an explosive device explosion hit the main road in the governorate of Daraa.

The military commander in the Jaysh Ahrar al-aashayer of the FSA, Abu Hatem Masaede, reported to SMART that an explosive device targeted a car belongs to their fighters at the road between the villages of Karak, Rahm, led to the wounding of four of them. Their injured varies between the middle and critical.

The Syrian loyalist forces continue in sending the reinforcements to their communities in the Daraa governorate.

A military source reported to SMART that the loyalist forces continue to send reinforcements to Daraa, included the military vehicles and weapons to each of the 12th Brigade near the city of Izra and the 15th Brigade in the town of Incl, in addition to the Brigade 34, which is near the town of al-musamiyah.


Exchanging operation was carried between the Syrian government and civil and military commission in the town of Daal, Dara in southern Syria. The process included the handover of the body of an officer from the loyalist forces in exchange for the release of a woman detained in the Syrian government’s prisons.

On Thursday, the leader of Jaysh al-Mu'taz, Osama al-Asami, told SMART that a committee of the residents handed over to the Syrian government a list of names of their detainees, in exchange for the body of a fighter, who killed days ago near the city. However, the Syrian government only agreed on the release of only one woman.

The FSA  factions operating in the northern and eastern countryside of Aleppo decided to close all roads leading to the city of Manbaj, which is controlled by the Kurdish Autonomous Administration (50 kilometers east of Aleppo) in Northern Syria for three days.

The Director of the Information Office of the northern Brigade of the FSA,  Badr Kajk, reported to SMART that the closure of the crossings comes for security reasons that have not been announced. 

Activists accused Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) of kidnapping the director of the crossing of the town of Moruak in Northern Hama, Central Syria, to pressure on the Syrian Liberation Front and to exchange him with some of her prisoners.

On Thursday, local activists reported to SMART that the HTS kidnapped director of the crossing, Abdul Wahid al-Dali near the town Moruaktwo days ago, and they negotiated with the Syrian Liberation Front to exchange him with the prisoners, but there was no result.

Local football players organized a protest in the village of al-Tuwaina (10 kilometer north of Hama) in Central Syria against the World Cup finals in Russia.

During the stand, the players raised banners in English and wrote on each one: World Cup in Russia covered with the Syrian blood, Children of Syria are victims of the Russian raids, and let's stop the World Cup in Russia.

Political and international developments:

On Thursday, the National Kurdish Council reported that representatives of them met with officials of the British Foreign Office in London, and discussed the situation of the Afrin region Northern Aleppo, Northern Syria.

The Council said in a statement published on its Facebook page “on Wednesday, That the two sides agreed on the need for the future administration of the region of its people without external interference, and that the international community should contribute to the process of rebuilding its infrastructure and ensure the return of the displaced.
