Jaysh al-Islam agrees to evacuate from Douma and international community condemns chemical massacre

The opposition Civil Committee of Douma announces that they have reached a final agreement between the Jaysh al-Islam and Russia concerning the evacuation from Douma to Northern Syria. Local activists report that the agreement involves the evacuation of all Jaysh al-Islam fighters and their families to Idlib and civilians that wish to leave for Jarabulus, Aleppo.

The activists also reported that more than 100 buses arrived in the perimeter of Douma from the al-Wafideen camp side. Jaysh al-Islam did not comment on the news of the agreement.

The agreement was reached hours after the Syrian government forces committed a chemical massacre in Douma on Saturday. The chemical gases killed and suffocated hundreds of civilians. Local authorities condemn the massacre.

Syrians living in areas outside Syrian government control organized protests against the chemical massacre in Douma. Teachers and students in a school in the village of Hayan, Aleppo, Northern Syria, organized a sit-in to express solidarity with Douma, and others protested in the city of Saraqib in Idlib and the city of Mourek in Hama.

The Civil Defense organized several protests in different areas in Syria in condemnation of the chemical massacre.

Syrian civil society organizations called upon the international community to intervene immediately to put an end to the Syrian government's use of chemical weapons.

The opposition group Syrian Liberation Front, which is currently clashing with another opposition group, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, threatened to avenge the victims of the chemical attack in Douma.

The Syrian Democratic Council condemned the chemical massacre in Syria, without holding any party responsible.

Brigadier General Asaad al-Zoubi, a political and military analyst, revealed that the Syrian government forces, in collaboration with three Russian officers, were recently preparing a toxic gas similar to what was used in Douma.

Syrian government bombing killed and injured civilians in the villages of Makarramiya and Der Foul, Northern Homs, and the villages of al-Amkiya and Qastoul, Hama.

Political and international news:

The international community continues to decry the chemical massacre by the Syrian government in Douma. The United States President Donald Trump called Bashar al-Assad an animal, and said Assad will pay for what he has done.

The United Kingdom's mission to the United Nations called for an emergency Security Council meeting to be held tomorrow to discuss the chemical attack on Douma. The European Union reported, “The evidence shows another chemical attack committed by the Syrian government forces.” The E.U. called upon the international community to respond immediately.  

The U.N. reported that they are not in the position to investigate the reports of the chemical attack on Douma.

Turkey has directly accused the Syrian government of committing a chemical massacre in Douma. The Turkish Deputy Prime Minister called upon the international community to respond. The U.K. Minister of Foreign Affairs said that his country is contacting its allies to hold the reponsible parties accountable.
