67,000 Internally Displaced persons arrive in Northern Syrian and the U.S. give reasons for staying in Syria

Local and field news:

office for Coordination of Support and Response in Northern Syria disseminate statistics of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Damascus and Eastern Ghouta from March until now. The statistics show that the total number exceeded 67,000 IDPs.The statistics include all the IDPs that arrived from Damascus and Eastern Ghouta between March 14 and April 14.  

In the light of fighting between Hay’at Tahrir al Sham and the Syrian Liberation Front, the latter and the al Sham brigade held Tahrir al Sham responsible for the hostilities in Aleppo and Idlib. The Tahrir al Sham renewed the attack and advanced in several location within hours.

In a separate context, the "Syrian Media Union" condemned the attack by the fighters of the "Sham Corps" on the media activist Omar Jeju in the village of Kufra (26 km north of Aleppo).

In Central Syria, the operation room of the Northern Suburbs of Homs, along with Islamic factions, destroyed loyalist vehicles and ammunition, while attempting to advance in the villages of Kantara, al Hamrat, al Jomaqlia, Saleem and al Amriah in Northern Homs and Eastern Hama. 

The Fourth Brigade of the Free Syrian Army proclaimed targeting government bases in Homs. The brigade targeted the bases with Grad missiles, as a response to the latter’s attempts to advance in the eastern villages in Northern Homs.

The Civil Defense reported on their Facebook page that seven warplanes alternated on targeting the village of Izzedine (28 kilometers north of Homs) with more than 28 raids. The raids injured a man and his wife, one of them is critically injured.

A new explosion occurred in Daraa, Southern Syria. An explosive device killed a civilian and injured other on a dirt road that connects the villages of Shaara and Kareem, al Lajat, Eastern Daraa.

In Rarra, which is under the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) control, the medication prices rose significantly over the past days, to reach 80%. The prices rose as a result of transporting large amounts of medication to the Islamic State-controlled areas in Deir Ezzor.

Political and International News:

The U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley said that her country’s forces will not withdraw from Syria until achieving its goals. The U.S. aim to assure that the chemical weapons will not threaten Washington interests, to defeat ISIS and to keep a control bases to monitor Iran.

Haley also said that they will impose sanctions over Russian companies, linked to the chemical attack in Syria. The U.S. Minister of Treasury, Steve Mnuchin, will announce the sanctions on Monday.

The Pope Francis deplored the failure of the International Community, for not agreeing on a joint mechanism to prevail peace in Syria.

The French Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean-Yves Le Drian, warned of a humanitarian disaster if the government forces attempted to seize Idlib, Northern Syria. He also added that the Russian protection of Assad cannot be justified.
