Syrian government forces bomb Southern Damascus with accusations of destroying area in favor of regulative chart, and Free Syrian Army expels Kurdish families from Afrin Area

Local and Field Updates:

On Sunday, the Syrian government’s warplanes bombed the al-Yarmouk camp in Southern Damascus and the adjacent neighborhood of al-Hajar al-Aswad dozens of times.

Local activists reported that since dawn, 55 airstrikes have hit al-Yarmouk camp and al-Hajar al-Aswad neighborhood as a part of an intensive military campaign in the area amidst Russian aerial support and attempted to advance on the ground.

Activists accused the government forces of destroying the camp and its surroundings in favor of the regulative chart, which the Damascus governorate council approved.

Activists reported on social media that the government destroys houses and neighborhoods, south of the Southern highway reaching the two areas of al-Qadam and al-’asali and al-Thalatheen street in al-Yarmouk camp.

Prices of water increased by 50 percent in the towns of Yalda, Babila, and Beit Sahim (7 kilometers south of Damascus) due to siege imposed by the government forces.

Local activists noted that a 20-liter water bottle increased from 50 to 100 Syrian pounds.

The team of Organization for Preventing Chemical weapons(OPCW) assembled samples from the site of the chemical massacre in the city of Douma (14 kilometers east of Damascus), which killed and injured hundreds of civilians.

The OPCW stated that the team visited the city of Douma and the site of the attack and assembled samples to analyze to determine whether chemical weapons have been used.The OPCW noted that they would consider and evaluate whether to pay another visit to Douma or not.

In Northern Syria, the Free Syrian Army (FSA) expelled Kurdish families from the villages of Ali Bazan and Karkali in Nahiyat Sharan in the Afrin Area (43 kilometers north of Aleppo), Northern Syria under the pretext of joining a number of their family members the PKK".

A military source, which refused to be named, of the al-Sultan Murad Division of the FSA stated that they arrested PKK fighters among the families.  

In Idlib,al-Suqour al-Sham ambushed Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), killing and injuring HTS fighters at the edges of the village of Mar’ayan in Southern Idlib, Northern Syria.

Local activists reported that" fierce" clashes erupted between the two sides during HTS attempt to advance in the village.The clashes killed and injured HTS fighters. The activists did not report a number of the HTS killed and wounded fighters.  

In Northeastern Syria, al-Shawshka group in cooperation with Tofoulati (my childhood) center started a campaign against children sexual harassment under the name" do not touch me" in al-Hasakah governorate.

Nairouz Alika, a member of the group, said that children suffer from sexual harassment especially in times of war and emergencies, and the campaign aims to raise the awareness of children and parents.  

The initial response team of the Raqqa local council discovered mass cemetery, which included 500 unknown bodies in al-Rasheed playground in Central Raqqa, Northeastern Syria.   

On Saturday, activist Muhammad al-Othman reported that a resident of Raqqa told the local council about the cemetery in the playground. Al-Othman noted that the initial response team and medical examiners have been exhuming bodies for four days.

In Eastern Syria, on Saturday, dissidents of the Islamic State (ISIS) assassinated ISIS commander in al-Shu’fa( 113 kilometers southeastern Deir Ez-Zor.)

An exclusive source in Deir Ez-Zor reported that those called the"Kharijites" assassinated field commander Abu Ass’ad al-Sudani along with two ISIS fighters while returning from guard points. 

In Western Syria, opposition military factions killed 15 of the government forces’ members in two separate attacks in the vicinity of the town of Kansaba, north of Latakia.

Ahmad Muhammad, the media spokesman of the Syrian Liberation Front in the Syrian coast, reported that the al- Miqdad bin Ammro faction of the FSA killed 15 government navy forces’ members, including a first lieutenant and two sergeants.
