Delayed group of internally displaced persons from Central Syria arrives in Idlib, and International Coalition conducts airdrop in Deir ez-Zor

On Friday, a delayed group of internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Homs and Hama in Central Syria arrived at the camp of the village of Kafr Louseen, 30 kilometers north of Idlib, Northern Syria.

On Thursday, a bomb exploded against a pick up truck, killing a civilian and injuring others, including a child and a woman in the Southern Idlib countryside. The Civil Defense transported the injured to a nearby hospital.

On Thursday, unknown gunmen kidnapped Alaa al-Abdullah, the director of the media institute at the University of Idlib. Activists accused the security battalion of the Salvation Government operating in areas controlled by the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) of kidnapping al-Abdullah.

The activists reported that unknown gunmen, who were suspected to be from the security battalion, arrested al-Abdullah without providing any information about the reason behind the arrest. Other activists reported that the arrest of al-Abdullah is connected to the arrest of a student of the media institute at Idlib University on Monday after she accused teachers and officials, including al-Abdullah, of corruption.

The Kurdish Autonomous Administration in the city of Manbij, 95 kilometers east of Aleppo in Northern Syria, issued a statement to apologize for a previous statement by the center of religious affairs of Manbij and its countryside, prohibiting the breaking of the fast in public during Ramadan.

In Central Syria, farmers lost 300,000 US dollars in the city of al-Lattamina, 24 kilometers north of Hama, due to Syrian government artillery shelling on agricultural lands.

Dozens of people attended the funeral of the press photographer Ibrahim al-Manjir in his hometown of Tal Shihab, in Daraa, Southern Syria. Unknown gunmen killed al-Manjir.  

On Thursday, the Khalid ibn al-Walid Army, which is affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIS) shelled the town of Hait, 15 kilometers northwest of Daraa in Southern Syria, injuring three civilians.

On Thursday, activists reported that the International Coalition conducted an airdrop in the northeastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor on the Syrian-Iraqi border, and arrested a prominent ISIS commander.

On Thursday, American troops and the Kurdish People’s Protection Units closed a highway west of ar-Raqqa in Northeastern Syria following the discovery of landmines.

On Thursday, an ISIS landmine killed a civilian in the village of al-Rafiqa, 25 kilometers west of Raqqa, Northeastern Syria.

Political and international updates:

The Syrian President Bashar al-Assad stated during a joint meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Russia that it is time to speed up the political process in Syria in order to reconstruct the country. Al-Assad wants foreign troops to withdraw from Syria.
