Syrian government decides to remove hundreds of checkpoints in Damascus; Free Syrian Army prepares to block loyalist forces' attacks

The Syrian government has issued a decision to remove hundreds of its forces' checkpoints from the city of Damascus and the neighboring Rif Dimashq governorate.

A knowledgeable source, who prefered to remain anonymous for security reasons, reported that the decision included the removal of 267 checkpoints, including the city of al-Qutayfah's checkpoint on the Damascus-Homs international highway.

Three internally displaced persons returned from Northern Syrian to their hometown of Irbin (9 kilometers east of Damascus), due to difficult economic conditions.

On Sunday, activists from Eastern Ghouta reported that three young men arrived at the town the previous day. The three IDPs had coordinated with Abu Baher, the commander of the First Legion, which operates in the Barzeh neighborhood, in exchange for money.   

On Saturday, the Turkish border guard shot and killed a young man near the village of Khirbet al-Joz, Western Idlib, Northern Syria. The young man was trying to enter Turkey without documents.

A Turkish military convoy entered to provide reinforcements to a checkpoint in the village of Ishtabraq, west of Idlib, Northern Syria.

The Kurdish Autonomous Administration (Rojava) confiscated the house of the Kurdish National Council's member Fuad Aliko in the Halko neighborhood in al-Qamishli city, 74 kilometers north of al-Hasakah, Northeastern Syria.

On Saturday, Aliko reported that the Rojava housed two internally displaced families from the area of Afrin, Aleppo, in the confiscated property, which still contains the furniture, food and clothes of Aliko.

In Southern Syria, the al-Fateh Legion of the Free Syrian Army (FSA), which operates in the city of Daraa, announced it merge with the Martyr Abu Hamzah al-Nuaimy Gathering.

The al-Fateh Legion stated that they aim to unify the efforts and morals of the Syrian revolution to block any attack by the loyalist forces and their allied militias.

FSA factions in the al-Quneitra governorate, Southern Syria, prepare to block any suspected attack by the loyalist forces, who are currently mobilizing in Northern al-Quneitra.

Abu Humam al-Julani, a military commander from al-Quneitra's northern sector's operation room, reported that the loyalist forces and their allied militias brought reinforcements to Southern Syria, especially to Northern al-Quneitra. Al-Julani added that the operation room is at a "total readiness, and is coordinating with the rest of the FSA factions to block any military operation in the area."
