Suspected Russian airstrikes kill and injure civilians in Daraa; Hayat Tahrir al-Sham raises alert in Idlib

On Tuesday, suspected Russian airstrikes killed and injured 33 civilians in the city of Nawa, 30 kilometers north of Daraa, Southern Syria.

The media official in the hospital of the city of Nawa, who introduced himself as Abu Yusuf, reported that the airstrikes killed eight civilians, including two children and two women and injured 25 civilians, some of them with major injuries.

On Wednesday, Russian and Syrian government forces bombed the governorate of Daraa, killing six civilians, including a child, and injuring others.

The University of al-Bashaer in Daraa postponed semester exams in their faculties and institutes in the city of Nawa and al-Musaifira due to the Syrian government forces’ military campaign.

On Tuesday, the opposition faction Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) deployed fighters and established checkpoints in the al-Zawiya mountainous area and cities of Maarrat Misrin and Idlib, Northern Syria, following the increase of assassinations in the governorate.

Local activists reported the the HTS deployed dozens of fighters on the road between the cities of Idlib and Maarrat Misrin. The activists added that the HTS established new checkpoints and built earth mounds in the area.

On Tuesday, tribes formed a consultative council under the supervision of the Founding Committee of the Salvation Government, which operates in the areas controlled by the HTS. The council formation followed a meeting between the tribes in the city of Sarmada in Idlib, Northern Syria.

Bassam Sahyouni, the head of the Founding Committee of the Salvation Government, stated that the aims of the council are to organize the tribes’ work institutionally, facilitate communication with tribes inside and outside of Syria, and participate in decision-making in the region.

On Tuesday night, clashes erupted between the al-Shamiya Front and al-Mu'tasim Brigade factions in the city of Afrin in Aleppo, Northern Syria.

A well-informed source reported that the clashes at the Eastern entrance of the city of Afrin killed a fighter of the al-Shamiya Front and injured others. The source noted that the clashes expanded to include the Kawa al-Hadad roundabout in central Afrin.

On Tuesday, the Asayish security forces of the Kurdish Autonomous Administration raised the alert in the village of Ya’rub, Western Raqqa, Northeastern Syria, following the spread of pro-Syrian government propaganda.

On Wednesday, traders reported that they managed to enter their goods into the city of al-Raqqa via the road between Silos and al-Kaltiya, which is not included in the al-Raqqa civil council's curfew in the governorate.

The Syrian government decreased bread allowances in the Northern Homs countryside, Central Syria. The decrease in bread pushed residents to make bread at home amidst despite the lack of resources.

On Tuesday, a local source reported that the Syrian government set the bread allowance for one family to seven loaves of bread per day. The source added that the decision entered into force on Monday, noting that earlier, families had access to bread without restrictions.

On Tuesday, the Syrian government, Russia, and Iran sought to hinder a proposal that foreign states suggested to enhance the power of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons by specifying the parties responsible for attacks using chemical weapons.

On Tuesday, a traffic accident killed and injured 23 Syrian refugees, including women and children, in the Turkish city of Bursa.
