Free Syrian Army clashes with Syrian government forces and foreign militias amidst bombings; Jordanians send humanitarian aid to Syrian refugees trapped on border

On Sunday, the Free Syrian Army (FSA) clashed with the Syrian government forces and Iranian militias in the Daraa governorate, Southern Syria.

The Quneitra and Daraa Governorate Councils said that they stick to supporting the negotiation delegation of Southern Syria. The councils stressed the need for a third side as a guarantor of the negotiations with Russia about the fate of the area.

Internally displaced persons (IDPs) said that they managed to enter the areas controlled by the Syrian government forces in the city of Daraa. The IDPs paid 100,000 Syrian pounds per person at the Syrian government forces’ checkpoints.

The Central Operations Room in Southern Syria said that their fighters have killed 90 members of the Syrian government forces, injured dozens of others, and captured a member in the clashes in Daraa between June 15 and June 30, 2018.

On Sunday, the Free Aleppo Governorate Council organized a protest in the village of Khan al-Asal, 10 kilometers west of Aleppo, Northern Syria, to express solidarity with the people of Daraa against the Russian-backed Syrian government forces’ military campaign in the area.

Local activists reported that a smuggler killed 17 civilians and stole their money and mobile phones at the Turkish border. The victims were attempting to enter Turkey without documents.

On Sunday, a fire broke out in two tents in the camps of Atma, 42 kilometers north of Idlib, Northern Syria. The fire destroyed the tents and no injuries were reported.

The Deir ez-Zor Military Council of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) launched a campaign to arrest what the council described as “clandestine groups” in the Deir ez-Zor countryside, Eastern Syria.

 

Clashes erupted between SDF fighters and armed smugglers near the village of al-Shahil, 38 kilometers west of Deir ez-Zor, Eastern Syria. The clashes killed a person and injured another.

The intelligence services of the Kurdish People’s Protection Units arrested nine people in raids in villages in the Southern al-Raqqa countryside.

The Committee of Municipalities and Environment of the Kurdish Autonomous Administration denied the removal of its flags and symbols from streets in the city of Qamishli upon a political decision. The committee said that the aim of the removal is to reconstruct the flags and symbols in a “beautiful and appropriate way.”

Political and international updates:

On Sunday, the Syrian Human Rights Network said that the American President Donald Trump is just like his predecessor Barack Obama in terms of crossing the “red lines.”

Jordanian citizens sent humanitarian aid to the Syrian refugees trapped at the border as the Jordanian government refuses to open the border for the refugees.

Israel sent military reinforcements to the Israeli-occupied Golan heights near the ceasefire line with Syria.

Avichay Adraee, a spokesperson for the Israeli Army, said in a statement on social media that the Israeli Army sent armored troops and artillery due to the recent developments in Southern Syria.
