Buses enter al-Fou’a and Kafarya towns to evacuate residents; Syrian government forces’ kill and injure dozens civilians in Nawa, Daraa

On Wednesday, buses entered the Syrian government-controlled towns of Kafarya and al-Fou’a, 5 kilometers north of Idlib, Northern Syria, to evacuate residents and fighters as part of an agreement between the Syrian government and the opposition faction Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).

A SMART reporter stated that on Wednesday morning, 121 buses entered the towns from al-Souaghia to evacuate residents and loyalist militias fighters. The reporter noted that a total of 6,900 people, including fighters, are to be evacuated.

The evacuation comes as a part of the HTS's agreement with Iran to evacuate all residents from the besieged towns, in return for the release of 1,500 prisoners and dozens of military captives from Syrian government prisons.

On Wednesday, the HTS raided outposts in Maar Shoureen village, 18 kilometers south of Idlib, Northern Syria, arresting people as part of a security campaign against Islamic State (ISIS) groups. Activists reported that four HTS vehicles raided the village, including two pick-up vehicles loaded with 14.5 mm guns, and two vans.

On Tuesday, the Syrian Liberation Front of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) denied reaching a ceasefire agreement in the Latakia governorate, Western Syria. The denial came after media outlets reported news of an agreement on the Northern Homs and Latakia countrysides, under the auspice of Egyptian intelligence and with guarantees by Russia and Ahmad al-Jarba, the head of the Future Current Party.

On Tuesday, the Abu Amara group of the Free Syrian Army claimed responsibility for two explosions that hit the Syrian government forces’ outposts near Aleppo city, Northern Syria. Syrian government media outlets justified the explosions, saying that the Syrian government forces destroyed old bombs near the cement factory in Handarat. The outlets added that the old bombs belonged to the opposition military factions who previously controlled the area.

On Tuesday, unknown gunmen killed two Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) fighters in Abian Sam’an town, Western Aleppo, Northern Syria. Other unknown gunmen killed a FSA fighter in the Ahtimilat town in the Northern Aleppo countryside.

Unknown gunmen riding a motorcycle killed and injured two fighters of the Jaysh al-Naser of the FSA, near Qal’at al-Madiq city. The fighters were headed for their outposts near the al-Sab’a checkpoint in al-Tuwia village, which lies adjacent to Qal’at al-Madiq.

The Syrian government forces discovered mass graves of Syrian government forces’ members in al-Makrumiya village, which belongs to Nahiyat Talbiseh in the north of Homs. The Syrian government forces exhumed ten bodies amidst ongoing searches for other bodies.

On Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, Syrian government helicopters dropped dozens of barrel bombs on residential neighborhoods in Nawa city, killing 17 civilians, including women, children and entire families, while also injuring dozens of civilians. The Syrian government forces shelled the city using dozens of rockets.

Unknown gunmen launched an RPG missile against a Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) vehicle on the road to the 17 Division Base, killing three SDF fighters and injuring two others.

An ISIS landmine explosion injured a civilian in al-Raqqa city. The landmine exploded when a bulldozer was removing the rubble in the al-Nahda neighborhood, injuring the driver, who was transported to a medical point that belongs to Doctors Without Borders in the al-Mushalab neighborhood.
