Syrian government reveals hundreds of prisoners’ names tortured to death in government’s prisons; landmine explosion kills 17 forcibly displaced people attempting to enter Aleppo

On Friday, the Syrian government revealed 700 prisoners’ tortured to death in the Syrian government’s prisons. The entire prisoners were from the city of al-Tal,12 kilometers north of Damascus.

The Syrian government forces also revealed dozens prisoners’ names tortured to death from the al-Hasakah, Northeastern Syria.

Syrian Committee for Prisoners documented on social media the killings of 57 prisoners most of them were from the Ghouwairan neighborhood in al-Hasakah.

On Friday, hundreds of civilians protested in the city of Maarrat al-Nu’man, south of Idlib, Northern Syria. The protesters stressed the principles of the Syrian Revolution and condemned the Syrian government’ killing of thousands of prisoners.

Civil groups organized a sit-in in the town of Akhtarin,40 kilometers north of Aleppo, Northern Syria to express solidarity with the prisoners whom the Syrian government tortured to death in prisons.

Abdullah al-Nayif, the director of the media office in the town, reported that 50 civilians participated in the sit-in. Al-Nayif added that the civilians condemned the Syrian government’ killing prisoners calling upon the Syrian government to reveal other prisoners’ fate. The civilians demanded International and Arab community intervene to release the prisoners.

A landmine explosion killed 17 forcibly displaced people (FDP) near the village of Fafin in the Azaz area,43 kilometers north of Aleppo, Northern Syria. The FDP was attempting to enter the city of Aleppo controlled by the Syrian government forces.

On Friday, local activists reported that the landmine exploded against the FDP residing in camps in the village also controlled by the Syrian government forces. The activists added that the FDP was attempting to enter Aleppo through a dirt road because the Syrian government forces prevent the FDP from entering the city.

The Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) said that their fighters detained 17 people in the Idlib governorate, Northern Syria. The HTS suspected some of the detainees to promote reconciliation with the Syrian government; however, the HTS suspected other detainees to belong to the Islamic State (IS.)

The HTS arrested a Free Syrian Army commander at an HTS checkpoint on the road between the city of Kafr Nubl and town of Hazarin, south of Idlib, Northern Syria.

The al-Mujahideen Consultative Council in the city of Sarmin,8 kilometers east of Idlib, Northern Syria called upon the HTS to end their security campaign and violations against civilians in the city.

The al-Mujahideen Consultative Council added in a statement that the HTS  has committed human and shari’a encroachments in the city since the start of the HTS campaign a month ago. The statement added that the HTS conducted arbitrary arrests against civilians and confiscated their properties like cars, motorcycles, and weapons.

On Friday, the National Liberation Front shelled the Syrian government forces’ outposts in the city of Aleppo, killing five members of the Syrian government forces in response to the Syrian government’ bombings on civilians.

National Liberation Front media outlets reported that the Artillery Regiment of the front shelled the Syrian government forces’ outposts in the al-Buhuth al-’ilimia area. The outlets added that the shelling killed five members of the Syrian government forces and injured others.

On Friday, the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) said that their fighters conducted three separate military attacks against opposition military factions and Turkish Army in the Nahiyat Sharan in the Afrin area,43 kilometers, north of Aleppo, Northern Syria, killing nine fighters, including Turkish soldiers.

On Friday, a Syrian government forces’ shelling hit a village and a town in the Hama governorate, central Syria. The shelling injured two civilians, including a media activist.

Activists reported that the Syrian government forces in surrounding outposts shelled the village of Zaizon, injuring a member of the Hama media office bruising due to the pressure of the shelling.

The Huras al-Deen (Guards of Religion) that belongs to the Qaedat al-Jihad group attacked the village of Foro in the al-Suqaylabiyah area, 40 kilometers northwest of Hama, central Syria. The attacked killed ten members of the Syrian government forces.

The Syrian government forces called upon residents of the village of al-Shabki,26 kilometers east of as-Suwayda, Southern Syria to hand over weapons that the residents seized from the IS’ members.

The YPG discovered a YPG fighters’ body, north of the city of al-Raqqa, Northeastern Syria. An unknown shooter had shot the fighter dead.

Political and International updates:

On Friday, Russia secured the move of the  United Nations (UN) Peacekeeping Forces (UNDOF) from Syria to the part under that is under Israeli occupation in al-Golan.

Sergi Koralinko, the Russian Troops’ deputy commander in Syria, said,”Today a critical event has taken place at the UN commission managed to leave the M-7 Highway to their outposts in the destroyed part of Quneitra. The UN commision managed to go Syrian territories for the part that is controlled by Israeli Army, according to Russia Today website.
