On Tuesday, the German Technical Cooperation Agency suspended its support of medical projects and the Free Health Directorates in Aleppo, Hama, and Idlib until further notice.

Forcibly displaced people (FDP) in a camp near the village of Hantoteen of the city of Maarrat al-Nu'man, 32 kilometers south of Idlib, Northern Syria, appeal to humanitarian organizations to provide tents and heating devices.

The FDP Muhammad al-Fakhri said that he has been living in the camp for a year and a half since the Syrian government forces destroyed his house. Al-Fakhri noted that they need urgent aid and that no one has responded to their demands.

Local residents’ purchasing power in the city of Amuda, 70 kilometers north of al-Hasakah, Northeastern Syria, declines due to Turkish threats to launch a military operation against the Kurdish People’s Protection Units east of the Euphrates.

The owner of a food store, Mohammed Sido, told SMART that food became more expensive due to the high US dollar exchange rate, adding that most goods are available in markets at reasonable prices.

The al-Raqqa Civil Council cuts off the drinking water from over 30 villages north of al-Raqqa, Eastern Syria, after stopping the main irrigation channel that reaches the al-Adnaniyah pump for maintenance.

Local sources told SMART that the maintenance work will include bridges and channels on the canal, which provide water for dozens of villages.

International and political updates:

The Lebanese government declared a state of emergency to ease the suffering of Syrian refugees living in camps during the blizzard that is expected to intensify in the coming hours.

The Lebanese Minister of Interior Nihad Machnouk gave instructions to governors in all Lebanese regions that include Syrian refugee camps to declare a state of emergency.

The spokesman for the Turkish presidency Ibrahim Kalin said that next week, the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will visit the Russian capital Moscow to discuss the situation in Northeastern Syria after the withdrawal of the US forces.

Kalin added during a press conference in Ankara that Erdogan's visit to Moscow is scheduled on January 23, 2019, to coordinate with Russia after the US decision to withdraw its forces from Syria, and to discuss the Syrian issue extensively.

The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu demanded Iran to leave Syria immediately, saying that Israel is ready for a full-scale war if necessary.

Netanyahu addressed Iran during the inauguration of the new Israeli Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi in Tel Aviv, saying, "I advise you, get out of Syria fast, we will continue our resolute policy with no fear, we won’t stop attacking you."
