IS claims responsibility for attack against International Coalition in southern al-Hasakah; Al-Raqqa Civil Council finds mass grave of hundreds of bodies in southwestern al-Raqqa

Field and local developments:

The Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility for a car bomb explosion that targeted a military convoy of the International Coalition near the city of al-Shaddadah in al-Hasakah, Northeastern Syria.

On Monday, the fighter Mohammad Saeed al-Etter from the al-Sham Legion of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) was tortured to death in one of the legion's prisons in the Afrin area near Aleppo, Northern Syria. Al-Etter had been arrested for suspected involvement in a robbery and corruption case in the area.

In Central Syria, local officials met with a Turkish delegation at a Turkish observation base in the city of Mourik, northern Hama, and demanded Turkey to take a "firm stand" against the Syrian government forces’ repeated violations and bombings in the de-escalation zone.

The local council and the consultative assembly of the city of Maarrat al-Nu’man, 38 kilometers south of Idlib, Northern Syria, issued a decision to remove all military bases from the city.

Also on Monday, the al-Raqqa Civil Council began to retrieve hundreds of dead bodies from a mass grave in the village al-Fokhaykhah, 23 kilometers southwest of al-Raqqa, Northeastern Syria.

The reconstruction committee of the al-Raqqa Civil Council stated on social media that the mass grave was estimated to contain between 600 and 800 bodies.

The Initial Response Team retrieved seven bodies from three neighborhoods in the city of al-Raqqa.

On Monday, the self-defense committee of the al-Raqqa Civil Council arrested seven internally displaced young men in the al-Raqqa governorate for military service.

In Southern Syria, the former Free Syrian Army commander Faysal al-Sobayh recruited 250 young men from the al-Lajat area, northeastern Daraa, to fight with the Lebanese Hezbollah militia.

The prices of firewood and LED lamps increased in the Syrian government forces-controlled city of Hama, as the Syrian government increased the number of power rationing hours.

Dozens of students from the city of Afrin demonstrated in the city of al-Qamishli, 75 kilometers north of al-Hasakah, Northeastern Syria, on the first anniversary of the Afrin battle, which Turkey and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) launched against the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) in the Aleppo governorate.
