Homs - SMART

The Jafar Bin Abi Taleb Battalion joined the Free Syrian Army’s Homeland Liberation Movement in the Northern Homs countryside, to unify the military efforts in the area.

In a filmed statement broadcasted via Youtube, the Commander of the Jafar Bin Abi Talib Battalion, Major Yarob Marwan Taqtaq, announced that the battalion, with all of its forces and means, joined the movement’s Rijal Allah Brigade to unify forces.

The Military Commander of the Homeland Liberation Movement, Lieutenant Ali Ayub, told SMART that the movement welcomed the battalion in its ranks. He added that this union represents the continuous attempt to unify decisions and military efforts.

Ayub pointed out that the battalion has 50 fighters equipped with light and medium weapons, operating in northern parts of Al Rastan City, and can reach any pressure zone in the Northern Homs and Southern Hama countrysides.

The Northern Homs countryside suffers intense air and artillery bombings from the loyalist forces, despite being inside the cease-escalation areas. The negotiation committee of Northern Homs said that Russia justified the loyalist forces’ bombings by saying that it was “a retaliation to the military factions’ breaches.”
