Idlib - Syria

The schools in Idlib, Northern Syria complained of a lack of heating supplies as the winter approaches. In addition, organizations and the Syrian Interim Government didn't support the Idlib Education Directorate.

On Sunday, the Assistant Director of Education in Idlib, Mohamed Al Hussein, told SMART that 1135 schools need diesel fuel .

Hussein added that the last school year relied on donations from people providing fuel for heaters due to the weak support from the Interim Government..

The Assistant Director of the Educational School in the village of Kafroma, which is 33 km south of Idlib, Jamil Shabib, appealed to organizations to provide fuel to schools. One student expressed the school's suffering. She said, "The winter approaches, but there are no seats or even windows to close the cold air.".

About 500 male students sit on the floor during lessons in the male school in Kfar Oma because there are no available seats and boards.

A large number of schools in Northern Syria suffer from a lack of educational supplies. Therefore, the school year has been delayed in Northern and Eastern Aleppo, coinciding with the closure of thousands of schools in Syria due to intense bombardment from Russia and the regime in the past years.
