Aleppo - SMART

A group of Deir Al-Zour people established a temporary shelter in a cellar in the city of Al-Bab, which is 38 km east of Aleppo, Northern Syria. About 35 displaced families from Deir Al-Zour live in the shelter.

On Wednesday, the Supervisor of Displaced Families, Abu Abd Al-Rahman, told SMART that the cellar is divided into 42 rooms. About 150 people, most of them children, live in the shelter. Displaced people from Deir Al-Zour arrive at the shelter daily because the rent of each house in Al-Bab reaches 100 USD.

He explained that the shelter suffers from poor services and lack of health care, which threatens the spread of diseases among civilians.

The supervisor pointed out that humanitarian organizations do not provide aid to the displaced people in the shelter.

There is a similar shelter for displaced people from Deir Al-Zour in the city of A'azaz, which provides acceptable services, better than those offered at the Al-Bab shelter.
