Turkey - SMART

On Monday, the Free Syrian Army and Islamist factions fighting against loyalist forces in the Battle of Harasta denied lifting the siege on the Armored Vehicle base, 10 km east of Harasta, Damascus.

The Battle of Harasta, code named “They Were Wronged”, was launched to gain control over the Armored Vehicle base in Harasta. Munzer Fares, the spokesman of the battle, said that the loyalist forces fighting out of Hmeimin military base are currently promoting a fake victory to raise their fighters’ morale.

Fares said that the Syrian government is manipulating its supporters, driving the opposition factions to publish videos to take advantage because “the loyalists are in trouble and don’t know what is happening in the Armored Vehicle base.”

He warned that the loyalist forces are bombing the base in their desperation to lift the siege. He assured that the opposition factions will continue to repel the loyalists' attempts to reach their besieged fighters and that they will try to cause them heavy losses.

Fighters of the Commando Forces, affiliated with the Ninth Division, were killed and injured in clashes against the FSA and Islamist factions. The Commando Forces arrived recently to support the loyalist forces.

The battle of Harasta was launched by Ahrar al-Sham in November 2017. The opposition aims to gain control over the Armored Vehicle base, which is in an area currently controlled by the loyalist forces in Harasta, Eastern Ghouta, Rif Dimashq, Southern Syria.
