Loyalist forces gain control of Istabalat village near Abu al-Duhur, Idlib

On Tuesday, loyalist forces gained control of Istalabat village near Abu al-Duhur, 42 km southeast of Idlib, Northern Syria, after Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) withdrew from the village.

Activist said that loyalist forces supported by violent air and missile cover gained control of the village after clashing with HTS members, who withdrew shortly after due to the bombings, without any further details.

Loyalist and Russian warplanes and helicopters bombed Abu al-Duhur and al-Jadida village. The bombings coincided with airstrikes on areas in Idlib, killing 12 civilians.

On Sunday, loyalist forces gained control of Sinjar, a strategic town that is considered the major entry point to advance towards Abu al-Duhur military airbase, 17 km north of Sinjar. Loyalist forces aim to reach the airbase, according to activists.  

Loyalist forces supported by Russian warplanes and helicopters have launched a military campaign against Southern and Eastern Idlib, killing and injuring dozens of civilians while destroying major institutions and infrastructure. The campaign has also displaced 80,000 civilians. During the campaign, loyalist forces have gained control of dozens of villages in the area.
