Turkey - SMART

On Wednesday, air raids killed and wounded a number of civilians in the cities of Saraqib and Maarrat al-Nu'man. An explosive device also exploded in the city of Idlib, Northern Syria.

The Civil Defense wrote on its Facebook that air strikes killed two civilians and wounded three others, including a child, in the city of Saraqib, 12 km east of Idlib. Activists said that the raids are likely to be from Russian warplanes, which have been supporting the Syrian regime since the begining of he military operations in Syria in 2015, after an agreement with the regime.

The Civil Defense added that warplanes targeted the city of Maarrat al-Nu'man, 34 km south of Idlib, with two air raids, killing two civilians and injuring others. Activists expected that the warplanes are affiliated to the Syrian Government.

Furthermore, the government warplanes and the Russian air force launched air raids on the villages of Tal Touqan, Tal al-Sultan, Tal al-Kalba, Al-Tuwaheina, Jadida, Baraghithi, Tuwim and Telegina east of Idlib, without reports of injuries, according to activists.

Air strikes ordered by Bashar al-Assad's government and Russian forces have killed and wounded tens of thousands of Syrians since the beginning of the civil war. Dozens of villages and towns are now under the control of the government, and more than 80,000 Syrians have been displaced internally.
