On Thursday, the Education Free Directorate of Damascus countryside announced the suspension of exams for the first semester 2017 - 2018 in Eastern Ghouta, due to the ongoing military escalation from the Syrian government and its allies in the region.

The Directorate of the Syrian Interim Government said in a statement that the exams would be determined later by the educational complexes, in cooperation with charity and local education and coordination with the central administration. The Directorate also stressed that the ongoing escalation of the government had disrupted the educational process and damaged schools. The Interim Syrian Government is an alternative to the regime's government to manage the areas out of the regime's control.

On Wednesday, the Health Free Directorate of Damascus and its countryside said that the government and Russian forces had bombed the cities and towns of Eastern Ghouta, killing 194 people and wounding 759 others, including women and children, during the past ten days.

Since 2013, loyalist forces have been besieging Eastern Ghouta. They prevented the entry of foodstuffs and necessities only slightly and sporadically. Months ago, the siege was intensified, resulting in the deaths of many civilians, most of them children, due to malnutrition and lack of food.
