Homs - SMART

On Monday, the Local Council of Rastan, Northern Homs called all merchants to register to establish a Chamber of Commerce in Al-Rastan, according to a statement published by the council today.

The President of the council, Lawyer Ahmed Al Abdallah, said that establishing the Chamber of Commerce is one of their goals of the subsequent phases, to consolidate an institutional framework through collecting enough information about the merchants, enterprises and the different elements that form their job.

Al Abdallah added that the chamber aims to organize and activate the business process in Rastan, through organizing commercial affairs and encouraging the merchants to participate in developing the work. They also intend to find a mechanism to register all merchants to get them involved in the upcoming phases.

The president of the local council pointed out that establishing the chamber aims as well to ensure full cooperation between them and the merchants, “to form national joints in various aspects of development,” he said. The local council organizes the commercial affairs and provides help to the merchants in Rastan.

Al Abdallah said that the merchants should fill an application for registration and submit all needed documents. The documents are two copies of the form- presented by the merchant or an agent, a copy of the ID or a family certificate, two photographs, and leasehold titles, in addition to the nature of the merchants’ business, name, phone number, email and address.

He added that there are no statistics for the total number of merchants in the city. They will start accepting applications starting from tomorrow, Tuesday, until Jan. 25. They would circulate the experience in other areas if the chamber were successful.

The local councils in Northern Homs organize the trading and economic processes. The Land Leasing commission banned the agriculture work without coordinating with them. In November 2017, the boards started an auction to lease lands on the banks of the Al Assi river.
