Aleppo - SMART

On Tuesday, loyalist forces supported by foreign militias gained control of strategic villages and hills that belong to Tal al -Daman district in Southern Aleppo, Northern Syria. The outposts overlook Abu al- Duhur airbase in Idlib.

Local activists said that loyalist forces supported by Iranian militias gained control of the strategic hills of al-Shaheed and Abu Rowail that overlook Abu al-Duhur airbase from the North. Loyalist forces also gained control of the villages of Houbar, Awainat Zaghera and Kabira, and Marhamia after battles with Hayaat Tahrir al-Sham, a military entity of military groups which are: Jabhat Fath al Sham (Al Nusra front previously), Nuor Eddin Zinki Movement, Al Haqq Brigade, Jabhat Ansar al Deen, and Jaish al Sunnah.

The activists noted that loyalist forces are now only six kilometers far from the airbase from the North.

The new loyalist forces’ advance has threatened to besiege the airbase from three directions, where loyalist forces are 3 km far from the airbase from the East and the South.

Recently, loyalist forces have gained control of vast areas in Idlib and Aleppo amidst local activists accusing Hayaat Tahrir al-Sham of handing over the areas to the Syrian government. Free Syrian Army(FSA) factions launched a counterattack in Idlib and regained control of villages.
