Daraa - SMART

Security tension increases between the two factions Revolution Army and Sunni Youth Forces, which are both affiliated with the Free Syrian Army, in the Kharba village, 32 km east of Daraa. The tension arose after a member of the Sunni Youth Forces killed a fighter of the Revolution Army.

Activists said that the fighter was killed at one of the Sunni Youth Forces' checkpoints in Bosra, which was followed by a shoot-out between the two factions with light weapons and heavy artillery in the nearby Kharba.

A military source, who preferred not to be named, said that a Correction Commission formed of several local elders and figures from the governorate are resolving the dispute.

The Revolution Army issued a statement demanding that the Sunni Youth fighters located at the checkpoint where the Revolution Army fighter was shot should surrender within six hours. They called all residents to prepare for any emergency.

The Sunni Youth Forces confirmed in a statement the death of the fighter, adding that the shooting occurred after the driver tried to escape from the checkpoint.

On Dec. 16, 2017, civil and military authorities formed an executive force, affiliated with the Supreme Military Council in Nawa, to support justice and bring the wanted civilians and militants for investigations, to transfer them to the Court of Justice in Horan.
