Idlib - SMRT

One child and two women were killed and other civilians were wounded, including two reporters from SMART News Agency and a reporter of Orient Television, in air raids on the martyr Uday Abu Hussein hospital in the city of Saraqib, 16 km east of Idlib, Northern Syria.

Suspected Russian warplanes targeted the martyr Uday Abu Hussein hospital in the city, killing a child and two women from among the patients, in addition to wounding two SMART reporters, Radwan al-Homsi and Basil Hawa, as well as the Orient reporter, Shaher Samak, and three members of the hospital staff.

The SMART reporter al-Homsi's arm was broken in the raid in addition to slight injuries to the head and leg, while Hawa sustained various injuries. The injuries of the rest of the wounded civilians ranged between light and medium in severity.

The Directorate of Health in Idlib said that the hospital was bombed directly, and it is the only hospital in the city of Saraqib. He pointed out that this is the second bombing that hit the hospital in one week. Activists said that the bombing caused significant damage to the hospital and forced it to shut down.

More than 20 civilians were killed and injured this morning by similar raids targeting the potato market in Saraqib. The city has been targeted with more than 50 air strikes, killing and injuring about 25 civilians, since yesterday.

The local council in Saraqib said yesterday that the city is “devastated” after the bombing campaign that destroyed most of the vital centers including hospitals, medical centers, bakeries, and markets. The Directorate of Education in the governorate has suspended the schools of Saraqib, Maarrat al-Nu'man, and Kafarnabal for two days.

Loyalist forces supported by Russian warplanes have launched a military campaign that has resulted in gaining control of Abu al-Duhur military air base and dozens of villages, killing and injuring dozens of civilians. The campaign has also destroyed major institutions and displaced thousands of civilians, according to the United Nations' statistics.
