Bombardment of Afrin, Aleppo kills three civilians and injures five

Three civilians were killed and another five injured after an artillery and aerial bombardment of the Turkish army and the Free Syrian Army on the Afrin area, Aleppo, Northern Syria, which is controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

On its official Facebook page, The Kurdish Red Crescent stated that after the bombardment of Jindarys, Western Afrin, two civilians were killed and a further three critically injured, most of them women. A similar bombardment of a center in Afrin killed one civilian and injured two others.  The Women's Protection Units of the Kurdish People Protection Units (YPG), which is the main component of the SDF, stated some days earlier that the Turkish bombing on the Rajo area, Western Afrin, killed more than 150 civilians and destroyed houses and other service centers.  On Jan. 20, 2018, the Turkish army and the factions of the Free Syrian Army have launched a ground military attack under the name of the Olive Branch Operation against the YPG in the Afrin area, where the Free Syrian Army and the Turkish army seized control over several strategic villages in hills during the operation, as the clashes continue.
