Clashes continue between Turkish Army and Free Syrian Army against Kurdish Units, killing and injuring fighters

On Saturday, the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) said that their members have killed and injured Turkish Army and Free Syrian Army (FSA) fighters in three villages in the Afrin region, 43 km northwest of Aleppo in Northern Syria.

The YPG said in a statement posted on their official page that members from “special units” carried out an operation in the villages of Quda and Bilika, which led to clashes with the Turkish Army and FSA, killing 14 FSA fighters while wounding others.

The YPG added that similar clashes broke out in the village of Dewa in the area of Jindayris, which led to the killing of two FSA fighters.

On Feb. 12, the Turkish Army announced that 31 Turkish fighters have been killed and more than 100 injured, during clashes with the YPG in the Afrin area as part of the Olive Branch Operation, according to Turkish media.

On Jan. 20, the Turkish Army and factions of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) began their first ground offensive in the Olive Branch Operation in the Afrin area, which is controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), whose main component in the YPG. During the operation, the FSA factions and Turkish Army have gained control of several villages and hills in the area.
