On Friday the Syrian government and Russia bombed several cities and towns of Eastern Ghouta in Syrian capital Damascus. This happened on the sixth day of the UN Security Council's adoption of Resolution 2401, which called for a 30-day truce in Syria.

Local activists reported that most of the raids were carried out by Russian warplanes.

Russia announced a truce for five hours per day, two days after adopting the UN Security Council Resolution 2401, which calls for a comprehensive cease-fire in Syria lasting 30 days, the lifting the siege on Eastern Ghouta, the introduction of humanitarian aid, and unconditionally allowing the evacuation of patients and injured civilians.
