Homs - SMART

The local council of the village of Tir maleh, which is 7 kilometers north of the city of Homs in Central Syria, reported that the flour was run out from the village. The local council called on the humanitarian organizations and institutions to secure it.

The local council added in a statement that the flour entirely run out from the warehouses of the village and they were “completely incapable” of continuing to provide bread to the people.

On Friday, the council chairman, Abdul Fattah al-Luz, said in a statement that the council relied on the "00" flour that they used to get it from the UN aid convoys, which have been cut off for five months.

al-Luz pointed out that the price of the bread bundle was 75 Syrian pounds, and it increased about 15 days ago to 100 Syrian pounds.

He pointed out that they communicated with several organizations operating in Northern Homs. The organizations responded that the bread crisis is general in the region, and they promised to work on it.

The local council in the city of al-Rastan, which is 20 kilometers north of Homs, renewed its calling on last year to the humanitarian and relief organizations to support the flour after running out of the full amount provided by the United Nations.
