Turkey - SMART

The US State Department considered it a “joke” - the Russian proposal of opening humanitarian corridors for the exit of civilians from Eastern Ghouta in Syrian capital Damascus,

According to Reuters, on Thursday evening the State Department spokeswoman, Leeds Naort, said at a press conference that “people are afraid to use these corridors because they may be recruiting in the loyalist forces or never returning to their homes or getting killed,” .

Russia announced a truce for five hours per day, two days after adopting the UN Security Council Resolution 2401, which calls for a comprehensive cease-fire in Syria lasting 30 days, the lifting the siege on Eastern Ghouta, the introduction of humanitarian aid, and unconditionally allowing the evacuation of patients and injured civilians.

Although Russia has stated that a large group of civilians has come out through the corridor  crossing of al-Wafeeden camp, all military, local and activist sources confirm that no civilians have exited from Eastern Ghouta, except for one family of Pakistani nationality. The Syrian government has violated the “daily truce” since its first day and has continued bombing Eastern Ghouta. The loyalist forces have attempted to break into it.
