Rif Dimashq - SMART

Bombing by Syrian loyalist forces and Russia killed 103 civilians in besieged cities and towns of Eastern Ghouta, since the United Nations Security Council adopted Resolution 2401 for a 30-day truce in Syria.

On Friday, Mahmoud Siraj, a spokesman for the Civil Defense in Rif Dimashq told SMART that they have documented the killing of 103 civilians, including 22 children and 43 women, since the adoption of resolution 2401 until Thursday.

He added that hundreds of civilians were wounded during the same time, and their number is difficult to be counted, amid targeting health centers and lack of medical supplies and medicine in besieged Eastern Ghouta.

Siraj reported that government and Russian warplanes launched 346 raids. Also, helicopters threw 71 explosive barrels. This coincides with the bombardment of 896 missiles and 208 ground-to-ground missiles. In addition, the fall of 1723 artillery shells were reported, all of which targeted Eastern Ghouta after the adoption of Resolution 2401.

He also referred to the use of internationally prohibited weapons during the same time, including the four time usage of burning materials.

Russia announced a truce for five hours a day, two days after the UN Security Council adopted Resolution 2401, which includes a comprehensive ceasefire in Syria for 30 days and calls to lifting the siege on Ghouta, providing humanitarian aid and allowing unconditional evacuation of wounded patients.
