On Monday, the United Nations Human Rights Council issued a resolution calling for an urgent investigation among the violence in Eastern Ghouta in the Syrian capital, Damascus.

The Council's decision calls for a comprehensive and independent investigation in the recent events in Eastern Ghouta by the International Commission of Inquiry, which was established for Syria about six years ago, in addition to demanding the immediate entry of humanitarian assistance.

The resolution was voted on by 47 member states of the Human Rights Council where 29 countries voted in favor of the resolution, 14 countries abstained, while four countries voted against it.

Today, the White House accused Russia of killing innocent civilians in Eastern Ghouta, using lies and indiscriminate force under the pretext of fighting terrorism. The White House added that Russia ignored the Security Council Resolution 2401 to impose a truce in Syria and the introduction of aid to the besieged peoples.

Russia and the Syrian government carry out a massive aerial bombing and artillery campaign on Eastern Ghouta. The loyalist forces advanced in the region. Hundreds of civilians have been killed in the past period. The civil defense has documented the deaths of 29 civilians since Sunday-morning and 51 civilians, yesterday.
