Rif Dimashq - SMART

On Friday Syrian loyalist forces and Russia renewed strikes using various weaponry, killing and wounding civilians in cities and towns of besieged Eastern Ghouta, despite a UN and International Red Cross aid convoy being present in Douma. Local activists reports that 13 Russian air raids killed five and injured dozens of civilians in residential areas of Jisreen. They also expected the number of casualties to rise.

The Civil Defense wrote on its Facebook page that five air and three surface-to-surface missile raids wounded civilians in the city of Douma. Also, artillery shelling by loyalist forces wounded more civilians in residential neighborhoods in the city of Saqba.

Air strikes on Eastern Ghouta began just minutes after 13 food aid trucks, which had not been loaded the last Monday, entered.

The UN official for Humanitarian Affairs in Syria reported that the bombing on Ghouta put the convo in danger, despite Russian assurances of the converse.

The loyalist forces, alongside Russia, bombed Eastern Ghouta last Monday, despite the presence of international and UN delegations accompanying an aid convoy in Douma. Activists reports that the bombing targeted sites only 200 meters away from where the delegations were located.
