Turkey - SMART

On Saturday, a military source in the neighborhood of al-Qadam in Damascus confirmed the agreement of factions of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) to exit from the neighborhood moving towards Idlib, after threats from the Syrian loyalist forces. The FSA is a military gathering founded in July 2011 by dissident officers of the Syrian loyalist forces to protest the violence against peaceful demonstrators. HTS is an opposition group previously known as al-Nusra Front, consisting of fighting groups including the Haqq Brigade, Jabhat Ansar al-Deen, and Jaysh al-Sunnah.

A source, who asked not to be identified, reported that loyalist forces put them between two options: the fate of Eastern Ghouta and leaving towards Idlib. The source further added that the factions chose to save the lives of civilians and get out of the neighborhood.

The source then pointed out that loyalist forces placed a "big iron door” on the only entrance to the area under their control, which does not exceed 2 km and has no doctors.

The source also pointed out that the exit will be within 48 hours with the presence of the Red Crescent.

The factions of the Islamic Union of the Sham Brigades, the Mujahideen al-Sham Brigade of the FSA and the HTS are all in the al-Qadam neighborhood.

On Friday, local sources told SMART that loyalist forces gave the factions 48 hours to exit from the neighborhood.
