Daraa - SMART

Civilians flee the city of Busur al-Harir, 33 kilometers northeast of Daraa, Southern Syria, to escape a potential military operation by the Free Syrian Army (FSA) against the loyalist forces in the area.

On Saturday, Anas al-Hariri, the head of the local council in the city of Busur al-Harir, stated that 400 families have fled from the city to the surrounding villages and towns of al-Kark, al-Musifira, al-Jiza, al-Maliha, and Nahta. Al-Hariri noted the the council helped transport the families, contacted humanitarian organizations to provide support, and prepared basements to shelter the rest of the families.

Earlier, dozens of families fled from villages in Daraa to the al-Karama Camp in the town of al-Rafid in Southern Quneitra, amidst artillery shelling on the villages and towns of Daraa, which killed and injured civilians.

On Mar. 4, 2018, a military commander in the Shabab al-Sunna Troops, who introduced himself as Abu Hussam, stated that the FSA factions are considering starting a battle in Southern Syria to distract the loyalist forces' military attack in Ghouta. On Friday, two high-ranking FSA officers ruled out any military action against the loyalist forces due to "foreign orders."
