Rif Dimashq - SMART

On Tuesday, the Rif Dimashq Health Directorate reported that 1,200 civilians have been killed and 8,800 have been injured with varying degrees of injuries in the past three weeks due to the Russian backed-loyalist forces’ military campaign on the cities and towns of Eastern Ghouta.

On Tuesday, the directorate noted in a statement seen by SMART that the killed civilians included 209 children and 213 women.

The directorate added that hospitals in Ghouta have carried out 2,231 surgeries from Feb. 19 to Mar. 12, 2018, mostly treating muscular trauma and general surgeries. The directorate reported 894 hospitalization cases and 631 cases of emergency care.

The directorate pointed out that bombings on hospitals and medical clinics in the area killed two doctors, four nurses, and paramedics.

Earlier today, the Syrian Red Crescent evacuated 25 civilian patients from Eastern Ghouta to be treated in hospitals of Damascus.

The Russian backed-loyalist forces continue to bomb Eastern Ghouta despite the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2401, which demands a 30-day ceasefire in all of Syria.
