Rif Dimashq - SMART

On Tuesday, four civilians killed and others injured by Russian air strikes hit the town of Saqaba in Eastern Ghouta, Damascus.

The civil defense reported on its Facebook page, that the  Russian warplanes launched eight raids, including a cluster missile raid on residential neighborhoods in the city, killing and wounding civilians while teams worked to evacuate them.

The Civil Defense pointed out that the neighboring town of Jisreen was subjected to eight more raids this morning in addition to the shelling of Surface-to-surface missiles and artillery shells. Activists reported that similar raids hit the cities of Arbin and Kafr Batna without reports of injuries.

Activists documented the killing of more than fifty civilians, including children and women yesterday, as a result of the Syrian government and Russia forces’ bombing on a number of towns of the eastern besieged Ghouta. The deaths count by the Syrian government attack has risen since Mid-February, which has exceeded 1100 people, according to the local organizations.

The bombing comes a day after Jaiysh al-Islam announced its agreement with Russia to evacuate the injured civilians from Eastern Ghouta for treatment under the UN resolutions “2254” and “2401” after the release of 13 members of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, a few days ago.
