Hama - SMART

The displaced people from al-Qadam neighborhood arrived in a shelter near the town of Ma’arat Masrin, Idlib, Northern Syria. They left the neighborhood after an agreement between military factions and government forces.

Around 1055 people, including 200 fighters, arrived in 30 buses to the town of al-Madiq Castle, Hama, which serves as the exchange point between the government and factions. The Syrian Arab Red Crescent accompanied the buses. Several humanitarian organizations welcomed the  arrivals and moved them to Saed camp in the village of Maarat Ikhwan, Ma’arat Masrin, Idlib.

The agreement requires the fighters to leave the village with their personal weapons, and to regularize the status of people who refused to leave. Defectors from the government will be taken to military service within 15 days, whereas people who have evaded military service will be reprieved for six months.

Displacement of thousands of people has been taking place in several areas in Damascus, such as Barzeh and Qaboun, and in Rif Dimashq such as, al-Tal, Daraya, al-Zabadani, Qudsaya and Wadi Barada.
