Turkey - SMART

On Wednesday, Syrian Red Crescent volunteers evacuated a group of 24 injured and sick civilians from Eastern Ghouta to Damascus, according to an agreement between the Jaish al-Islam and Russia.

On Monday, the Jaish al-Islam reached an agreement with Russia to evacuate groups of sick and injured people from Eastern Ghouta. The agreement is according to the United Nations resolutions 2254 and 2401, which call to evacuate injured and sick people under siege. The besieged people of Ghouta have suffered from the lack of medicine and targeting of hospitals and medical centers for six years.

On Tuesday, the Syrian Red Crescent evacuated the first group of injured people from Ghouta. The loyalist forces launched a military camping on Eastern Ghouta on Feb. 18, and have so far killed and injured thousands of civilians.

Last year, several sick civilians were evacuated from Ghouta while others died waiting for help.
