Turkey - SMART

Government forces have banned civilians evacuated from Eastern Ghouta from leaving Damascus for any other city according to a source.

The source, one of the evacuated, said that government forces transferred them from Adra to the al-Dweir camp, Southern Damascus. They gave them the choice of staying for four months in the camp to then return to Eastern Ghouta afterwards, or go to live with their relatives in Damascus, thereby banning them from leaving the city.

The source, who preferred not to be named for security reasons, said that the government forces moved them to wooden rooms and provided meals.

On Thursday, thousands of civilians were evacuated from Eastern Ghouta to nearby areas controlled by the government, coinciding with advancement for the government in the area.

In recent days, thousands of civilians have been killed and injured by government and Russian bombing of the town of Hammouriya. They bombed the town with different kinds of weapons, such as poisonous chlorine gas. This coincided with intense bombing on the cities and towns of Eastern Ghouta. The bombings have occurred, despite the U.N. Security Council's Resolution 2401, which calls for a 30-day countrywide ceasefire.
