Aleppo - SMART

On Saturday, the Kurdish Autonomous Administration (Rojova) announced a decision that prohibits issuing travel permits for people who wish to travel to the Free Syrian Army-controlled city of Jarabulus, until the end of the Nowruz holidays on Mar. 21.

A source from the city of Manbij reported to SMART that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) prohibited issuing travel permits for families who wish to travel to the Free Syrian Army-controlled city of Jarabulus.

The source added that the prohibition will continue until the end of the Kurdish Nowruz holidays on Mar. 21. He also said that the decision does still allow travelers into Rojavan areas, but on the precondition that those entering hold proof-of-residency from one of the SDF's directorates.

Another source from the Asayish reported to SMART that the SDF are studying the possibility of issuing a general pardon for all prisoners on the occasion of Nowruz holidays.

During the past few years, the SDF has increased its security measures before Nowruz holidays approach. This is in order to avoid possible attacks and explosions against civilians. The SDF have prohibited Nowruz celebrations and gatherings in the al-Hassakeh Governorate.
