Free Syrian Army gain control of central prison and seven villages in Afrin

On Saturday, the Turkish backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) factions of the Olive Branch Operation gained control of the central prison, Western Afrin (43 kilometers north of Aleppo). The factions also gained control of seven villages in the area after clashes with the Kurdish People Protection Units (YPG) of the Democratic Union Party.

FSA factions announced gaining control of the central prison of Afrin after clashes with the YPG. The outcomes of the clashes were not reported.  

The factions also announced gaining control of the villages of Ain al-Hajar al-Kabir and Ain al-Hajar al-Saghir, Northern Afrin and the villages of Khaltan Gharbi and Jaqli in the Jendaris area, in addition to the villages of Jatal Qabu and Skeikh Ubasi in the Rajo area.    

The Turkish news agency Anadolu said that the Turkish Army and FSA factions gained control of four new villages as they blocked the main road between Maabatli area and Afrin city center.

In the last day, the FSA launched has launched an attack on the Maabatli area, Western Afrin, and announced in a statement obtained by SMART that they gained control of four villages in the area, after gaining control of six other villages in Afrin in the same day.

The FSA advanced in several locations in the Afrin area during the Olive Branch Operation, as they gained total control of the border between Turkey and Afrin and also took over five villages: Bulbol, Rajo, al-Sheikh Hadid, Sharan and Jendaris.
