Military convoy of Kurdish People’s Protection Units from Afrin accompanied by Russian officers arrive in Manbij, Aleppo

A special source told SMART that a military convoy of commanders from the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) and the Kurdish Democratic Union Party from the area of Afrin, arrived of the city of Manbij, east of Aleppo, Northern Syria to discuss its situation. The Kurdish Democratic Union Party was founded in 2011 and aims to attain constitutional recognition and civil rights for the Kurdish people of Syria.

The source, who is close to the intelligence services of the YPG, reported that the military convoy arrived in the city of Manbij accompanied by five Russian officers with their own escort, is to hold a meeting at the headquarters of the YPG in the city.

The source also pointed out that the meeting aims to discuss the situation in the city of Manbij, and the possibility of starting a Turkish military operation towards it. Free Syrian Army factions are getting close to gain control of the city of Afrin, and Turkey repeats statements about its intention to head for Manbij.

On Friday, United States troops arrived in the city of al-Tabaqa, west of Raqqa, to hold a security meeting with leaders of the YPG. A special source told SMART that officials of the government’s intelligence with other members of the Democratic Union held a security meeting in the city of al-Tabaqa.
