Turkey - SMART

On Saturday, thousands of civilians left Eastern Ghouta for areas controlled by the Syrian government.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported that about 7,000 people left Ghouta through the crossing of the town of Hammouriya, according to Russian media.

The media published videos showing the exiting of thousands of civilians from besieged areas. Loyalist forces and Russia have launched an intense military campaign on this area, killing and wounding thousands of civilians in less than a month.

Siraj Mahmoud, a spokesman for the Civil Defense in Eastern Ghouta reported, "The horrors of the Day of Resurrection are in the streets of Ghouta. People are walking with terror on their faces above the bodies, going from one hell to another."

On Saturday, a suspected Russian airstrike also killed and wounded dozens of civilians. The airstrike targeted a gathering of civilians in the city of Zamalka while they were trying to get out of Eastern Ghouta.

On Friday, a source told SMART that government forces have banned civilians evacuated from Eastern Ghouta from leaving Damascus for any other city.
