Rif Dimashq - SMART

An intense missile attack by the government forces kills civilians in besieged Harasta, Eastern Ghouta.

The Civil Defense reported that two women and two children were killed by more than 30 ground-to-ground Syrian government missiles on the residential neighborhoods of Harasta. Civil Defense teams transferred the injured to medical centers.

The Ahrar al-Sham Islamic Movement controls Harasta, but the roads to other towns and cities in Eastern Ghouta blocked days ago. At the same time, Syrian government media reports that the government will give civilians and fighters in Harasta a deadline to evacuate the city.

Activists report that Ahrar al-Sham and Russia have indirect negotiations to evacuate the fighters from Harasta, while civilians remain in the city. Ahrar al-Sham has not commented on the subject.

The spokesman of Ahrar al-Sham, Munzer Fares, said, “We have not hired any party to negotiate in our name. We seek to unify all military decisions in one military institution, and revive the public and transparent resistance.”

Fares assured that Ahrar al-Sham’s fighters are an inherent part of Damascus and Rif Dimashq, and their decisions will not differ from the “honest” figures of Eastern Ghouta.

The three opposition factions in Eastern Ghouta, which are the al-Rahman Legion, Jaysh al-Islam, and Ahrar al-Sham, have been negotiating a ceasefire. The Syrian government has split their areas into two halves and advanced in the cities and towns of the middle section of Eastern Ghouta.
