On Monday the Red Cross demanded access to civilians in the Afrin area (42 kilometers northwest of Aleppo), Northern Syria.

Peter Maurer, Head of the Red Cross, said that the Turkish Red Crescent lost credibility before reisdents of the Afrin area, after the Olive Branch Battle. According to Reuters, Maurer further added that the Kurdish residents of Afrin now almost completely discredit the intentions of Turkish Red Crescent.

Maurer of course noted that thousands of internally displace people of Afrin in areas near Aleppo, receive support from Red Cross staff. He demanded regular access to Afrin and cited that residents have a right to humanitarian aid, as well as the choice to leave or remain in the area.

On Sunday, factions of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) seized control of the entrie Afrin area, following the Kurdish People's Protection Units' (YPG) withdrawal from the site. The factions then continue to advance and gained control of Nahiyat Mu'aitali, as well as the villages of Afrin. Earlier, factions had gained control of the area's borders with Turkey, namely: Bulbul, Rajo, al-Sheikh Hadid, and Jenderis Nahiyats. Battles in the area have killed and displaced thousands of civilians, who are fleeing to areas of FSA and loyalist forces control.
