Suspected Syrian government bombings kill 17 civilians in Zamalka, Eastern Damascus

On Thursday, suspected Syrian government bombings killed 17 civilians and injured dozens of others in the city of Zamalka in Eastern Ghouta, Rif Dimashq governorate.  

Medical sources in Zamalka told SMART that new airstrikes on residential neighborhoods of the city killed 17 civilians and injured dozens. The sources added that the death toll is likely to increase.

Activists face difficulties reporting news due to intensified bombings on Zamalka and poor the Internet connection in the city.

Local activists reported that more than forty airstrikes have hit Zamalka during the recent hours. Syrian government helicopters also dropped 25 barrel bombs on the city.  

The attacks coincide with the preparations for the first group of internally displaced persons to exit the city of Harasta to go to Northern Syria. Syrian government bombings killed and injured civilians in Irbin and Douma cities.

Over the recent days, Syrian government forces have been bombing the remaining cities and towns of the middle part of Ghouta, which is under the control of the al-Rahman Legion.

Thousands of families hide in unsuitable basements and shelters in the cities of Irbin, Zamalka, Haza, and Ain Tarma in the middle part of Ghouta. The families have started to run out of food and share food among them. Daily life, streets and markets have stopped in the area.
