Rif Dimashq - SMART

On Monday, Jaysh al-Islam denied the evacuation agreement from the controlled areas in Eastern Ghouta of the Syrian capital, Damascus.

Russian media quoted the Deputy Chief of the Chief Operating Room of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Stanislav Haji Mammadov "Jaysh al-Islam expressed its readiness to hand over heavy weapons and withdraw from Eastern Ghouta. Jaysh al-Islam’s withdrawal is expected to be organized soon."

The head of the political bureau of Jaysh al-Islam, Mohammed Alloush said in a statement seen by SMART that "these rumors are a psychological war. He stressed that they sent their denial to the Russian media, but they did not publish it."

These developments come hours after the announcement of the Negotiating Committee for the city of Duma of issuing a meeting with the Russian to reach an agreement for the city. The Negotiating Committee agreed to hold a meeting after three days, to respond to the Russian inquiries about the initiative presented by them.No information is available on the terms of this Agreement.

The Russians reaffirmed the cease-fire in the city, throughout the negotiations, but the loyalist forces bombed the city of Duma, wounding nine civilians.

The Negotiating Committee includes a military commander of Jaysh al-Islam and a member of the Unified Command for Eastern Ghouta, as well as representatives of civilians from Duma.
