Rif Dimashq - SMART

On Wednesday, buses entered the city of Irbin (9 kilometers east of Damascus) to transport the fifth group of internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Eastern Ghouta to Northern Syria.

Local activists reported to SMART that the process of transporting the IDPs is chaotic because of the large number of civilians wishing to leave.

Syrian government media reported that 69 buses will transport 4,108 IDPs, including 1,017 fighters from the neighborhood of Joubar, and the cities of Irbin, Zamalka, and the town of Ain Tarma, Eastern Damascus.

The second convoy of the fourth group was attacked earlier today by a number of supporters of the Syrian government while it was passing through the province of Tartous, before reaching the area of Qalat al-Madiq in rural Hama.

Last Friday, the al-Rahman Legion of the Free Syrian Army reached an agreement wish Russia to leave the central sector of Eastern Ghouta, including the cities of Irbin, Zamalka, the town of Ain Tarma, and the Joubar neighborhood. The agreement also allows for the evacuation of injured fighters, who can choose to return to Ghouta or go to Northern Syria after their recovery without prosecution.
