Hama - SMART

On Saturday, a traffic accident killed five and wounded several others belonging to a convoy of internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Eastern Ghouta. The convoy was passing by the Syrian government-controlled village of Nahr al-Bared, west of Hama, and was to arrive in the city of Qalat al-Madiq.

Local activists told SMART that a vegetable truck collided with three buses carrying IDPs to Northern Syria, instantly killing five of them and wounding eight others, including four members of the Syrian Red Crescent.

The activists reported that loyalist forces will transfer the victims to Qalat al-Madiq, and they will transfer Syrian Red Crescent members to hospitals in Syrian government-controlled areas.

Earlier today, two groups of IDPs from the central sector of Eastern Ghouta arrived in the city of Qalat al-Madiq.

On Mar. 23, 2018, the al-Rahman Legion of the Free Syrian Army and Russia reached an agreement on the former's withdrawal from central sectors of Eastern Ghouta (the cities of Irbin, Zamalka and Ain Tirma) and the Jobar district, Damascus. The agreement also includes the safe evacuation of wounded for further treatment, without fear of being pursued, and with the choice to being able to return to Eastern Ghouta or head for Northern Syrian after recovery.
