On Monday, Trump announced that he would decide during the night on the response chemical attacks carried out by the Syrian government on the city of Douma (13 kilometers east of the capital Damascus). The U.S. ambassador to the United Nations also stressed that her country would respond regardless of the position of the Security Council.
On Monday, the U.S. president said in a press conference that he would make a decision this night on what he called the horrific attack on the outskirts of Damascus. He added that the response would be substantial.

Trump noted that his country would not allow what happened in the city of Douma to happen again in the world. He stated that the U.S. power would help to stop it, and the United States is the biggest force in the world.

The U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Nicky Healy, said in a speech to the UN Security Council at a meeting to discuss the regime's massacre of chemical weapons in the city of Duma, that the Security Council must assume its responsibilities, adding that her country will respond to these attacks whether the UN Security   Council decided to move or not.

Healy accused Russia of involvement with the Syrian government and said that there is no civilized country accept to have a relationship with al-Assad, while Russia is not ashamed of supporting him. She added that the hands of Russia have become stained with the blood of Syrian children.

The US Ambassador to the United Nations, Nicky Healy, said  "we have reached the moment when the world must see justice done, history will record this as the moment when the Security Council either discharged its duty or demonstrated its utter and complete failure to protect the people of Syria, either way, the United States would respond".

The U.S. President Donald Trump said before the meeting that he would decide to respond to the chemical attack in 24 to 48 hours, while the U.S. 

 While the U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Matisse said, strikes could be launched against the Syrian regime. The British Foreign Office also said he was working with its allies to agree on a joint response to the attack.

On Saturday-evening Sunday-morning, dozens of civilians were killed, and hundreds more were suffocated by an attack of poisonous gas fired by the Syrian government’s warplanes on the city of Douma, according to activists and medical sources. Most local and international bodies condemned the massacre.
