Turkey - SMART

British Prime Minister Theresa May and United States President Donald Trump condemn the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's "vicious disregard for human life."

The White House said in a statement that May has agreed with Trump "not to allow the use of chemical weapons to continue." Talks continue between the U.K., the U.S. and France on the Syrian government's chemical attack on the city of Douma.

May told reporters that she had spoken to French President Emmanuel Macron in the morning and will continue to talk with allies.

In response to a question about their intention to participate with the U.S. in the event of a military intervention directed towards the Syrian government in Syria, May said, "We ensure that those responsible will be held to account."

The U.K. newspaper Times  reported that U.K. ministers and officials put pressure on Prime Minister May to join a possible U.S. - French military intervention against Syrian government forces in Syria.

On Saturday, Syrian government helicopters dropped toxic gas barrels on the city of Douma, suffocating and injuring hundreds of civilians, according to activists and medical sources. Local and international parties condemn the massacre.
